Orion Autoguider on VM

I have recently tried to get an Orion SS Autoguider running on a Virtual Machine because while PHD works on the Mac there is no Orion driver support for the Mac.
PHD seems to download OK on the VW (I use VM Fusion) I then download the Orion drivers but when I try to access the camera from PHD it recognises the Orion SSAG as an option but comes back with an error message saying there is No Camera. The red light is showing on the camera. I have also tried the camera on a windows machine and it works fine so no problem with the camera.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi John,

I successfully use that set up, i.e. PHD with Orion SSAG running on Win XP inside VMWare Fusion on my MacBook/Pro.

When you plug in a USB device, it may be automatically connecting to your Mac rather than the operating system running inside the VM (depends upon which version of Fusion you have, settings, etc). You may need to manually go into the Virtual Machine menu of Fusion, go to the USB submenu, and click on "Connect Orion ..." to make the camera connect to Windows.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Dave
