Jupiter attempt

This my first real serious attempt at Jupiter, I used eyepiece projection with a 4mm TMB Planetary Type 2 eyepiece on a 8" newton at f/5 on a eq6 pro using a lifecam vx 5000. The seeing was disgracefulness 3/10 there was a storm approaching lighting in the background and high humidity....I was sweating With all these excuses here is my picture of Jupiter, and please any advice is more than welcome.

Image was processed with RegiStax 5.1 and captured with sharpcap.

Great first attempt Dan.
Color balance is pretty good.The image is quite dark and has some Onion ringing.You may want to increase your exposure time and lower your frame rate to get rid of the Onion rings. Focus is a little soft, but in bad seeing I think you did a pretty good job here. Did you use the sharpest frame for alignment in Registax? DOes sharpcap have a histogram feature? If so you want the histogram to be at about 80-90% filled to ensure good exposure.

In poor seeing this is pretty good! I hope my first goes are in the same ballpark.
Some definite onion rings in the picture, I brightened it up to look at the ringing, it is clearer when you crank up the brightness. Experimenting with the exposure settings on the lifecam may bring clearer results, but better seeing will hopefully come your way soon!

Thanks for the great advice, really appreciate that. So ill try and get the frame rate lower ....im sure I tried but it would only settle with 15 or 30 I had set at 15fps.(maybe its just sharpcap) As for the exposure time and histogram, image on the next setting looked washed out but maybe im to use to dso way of thinking lol. I do believe that I used the sharpest frame under the conditions(it was really bad) With all this said the next session should be quite promising.

Thanks Peter I hope so to, with good seeing half the hard works already done. I really look forward to see what I can get out of a 8 newton, most of the good pics on here are 10" +.
