Time for some Planetary

Good afternoon all,

I'm going to do some planetary imaging what should I get for the existing setup?

I have a 8 inch newton on a eq6 with 550d 2inch extension and badder MPCC I think my magnification is around 35 or very close at prime focus.

Can I just add a 4x 2inch barlow to my prime focus setup for DSO and amplifier it off 35x...? That would give me 160x then I could crop and zoom 640x480 to get more detail again..

I do have a webcam modified also, but I was also give the crop mode a bash on the 550d. Whats going to give me a good size planet with good detail, any advice would be more than welcome to help me enter this new realm mainly for Jupiter

Thanks
Dan

There is another thread going about the 5x powermates instead of a barlow, might be worth checking out.

Optimal f-ratio depends on the size of pixels in the camera used. If you have SPC880/900 Philips webcam or alike - with ICX098 CCD, then around f/20 is optimal (sometimes bit more).
