Jupiter 26/27th Sept from Brisbane

I was up after late shift last night and had a go at imaging Jupiter. The seeing was better than I have seen it, but still not the best.

The first image is of the 4 main moons using the EOS 550D in 1920x1080 30fps movie mode. The second image is using the 640x480 60fps movie crop mode and is pretty overprocessed - I got excited by the amount of detail that is (almost) there! The planet almost fills the frame, which makes tracking with the Dobsonian a little difficult. Both images used 1000 frames stacked in Registax.

Thanks Daniel. I used the 550D at prime focus and a 5x Powermate. Here is my best ever Jupiter (so far) using a DSLR and 12" Goto Dobsonian, from the previous night: one at capture resolution and one downsized.

Tom there more than inspirational to me terrific stuff. I'm in the process of getting a barlow for my 8 inch newton & 550 also. You really get some good detail on a 12 inch tho!!
