Filling in barrel indents

My MPCC has the indented recess around the barrel, and my Moonlite's brass compression ring kind of slips into it but I think it's causing my camera to not sit flat on. I'd prefer to have the focuser pushed fully flat onto the MPCC flange. To do that I need to fill in that recess.

I noticed a thread here where erick used some carbon fibre adhesive sheet wrapped around. Looked like expensive option. Would any tape do? Electrical tape? Any other ideas? I just want a smooth barrel into the focuser.

I just went straight to the recommended stuff. And someone kindly shared a sheet with me when I couldn't find it. But others said it can be found easily.

I reckon you could try electrical tape. Better might be a tough cloth tape. You want something that doesn't stretch and shrink. And you need to experiment to get exactly the right width to fill the "safety undercut". correctly. A bit too wide or a bit too narrow and it isn't as effective, I found.

Moonlight may have an accessory to replace that MPCC attachment.
I now only use a flat T2 to 2" adapter for the same reason - hate those cutouts as they do skew the camera when tightened.
Give Ron an email and explain the problem as he will know what you need.

Thanks guys.

Eric - might do some experimenting and let you know how I go.
Allan - I'll drop Ron an email as you suggest. Thanks.

Troy,

This Baader brochure shows how their accessories change the distance. You can see how the stopper collar was intended to be removed to allow the MPCC to slide further into the focuser barrel in some applications. If you can find out the dimensions of the finetuning rings (OD and thread details it should be possible to machine a sleeve without the indent.
