Jupiter from Melbourne, Oct 13

Well compared to our friends in the Northern Hemisphere Jove is just such a tough object at the moment especially from Melbourne which has mediocre seeing at the best of times. At 40 degrees altitude over a city of 3 million people all the fine detail is washed out especially in the dreaded Blue Channel.

Anyhow, first image of the season for me. At least the GRS was visible as well as a nice bar on the NEB.

Not seeing many posts this year of Jove on IIS so lets hope we all get some good seeing in the coming weeks and months.

Captured and processed with my usual set up: 12.5" f/5, Skynix 2.0, Powermate 5 x and processed in Registax, Astra Image and CS3, 1000 frames per RGB channel.

It's a start John, it has been very tough this year. Only two images from me so far. Some nice other images presented though. Good to see you on the planetary scene again.

Still a creditable result John, I am sure we all hope for some relief from the Jetstream very soon.

Regards

Thanks for the comments guys.

Let's see what the weather gods bring to us in the coming weeks. Some of the images of Jupiter from the Northern Hemisphere are simply amazing.

Doing a deep sky astrophotography trip to Northern Victoria next weekend where the seeing can be excellent so hoping to have another go at Jove then.

Look forward to seeing everyone's Jove images during this apparition.
