Commonwealth Games!

Anyone looking forward to this?

I love a good sporting event.. hopefully the Ch9 coverage is much better than Ch7's olympics coverage.

Any of you Vic folk heading along to any events?

I don't know, there's something about the Commonwealth games that seems ..... obsolete.

Must admit though, I enjoyed the winter Olympics. Being a skier I just loved the Slalom and the GS (Giant Slalom).

I agree. What makes it worse is our tax dollars pay for all these people at the AIS so they can learn to run and swim a little faster. I don't understand this country's obsession with sports that can't attract enough interest to fund themselves. I find it very annoying that our tax dollars go to these athletes when the government should be using the money for something useful like researching alternative fuels or something that will benifit all Australians.
Some of the sports are interesting enough to watch, but the highlight will have to be the U2 concert.

where are they holding the games?

Oh thats right some place called melbourne, is that part of Sydney ?

I hope that we see the bowls live and the shooting , maybe they have some local fields booked for the athletics

Any coverage has to be better then 7's, SBS would be excellent

I actually don't mind the Commonwealth games, they seem more friendly and low key than the Olympics

I also agree our tax payers dollars should go towards spaceports and large telescopes but the problem is we are funding several wars at the moment
