Menacing stormclouds over Brisbane, 15th October 2011

Hi all,

Here are a few images of yesterday's storm. All taken using the EF 35mm f/2 lens, because I'd been photographing the kids and that lens was still on the camera. Probably should have used the 15-85, but the storm was moving too quickly to change lenses! Had a bit of hail just after these shots were taken.

There were some very spectacular clouds! Hope you like them.

Cheers,
Stephen

re clouds an storm

You have really nailed the exposure well here Stephen-no 2 and no 4 are quite eye catching-I like 2 the best.I'll put my 10-22 mm to this sort of use,I know a location on a hill top.and if I set lens to 10 mm and plug in the 'intervalometer'.Could be fun.

Great job! The lighting on the foreground was pretty spectacular, wasn't it? A few others have posted their pics too in General Chat:

I can sympathise with the lens changing dilemma... I ran down to the back of the farm, started setting up, and realised that I'd accidentally left the 24 mm prime on the camera instead of the 14 mm. Doh!

Great shots Steve. It certainly came in quick. I called the family out and we only had time to snap with my wife's iPhone. There were a few rolling and "bulging" formations that would have video'd well - we were hoping a tornado wasn't about to come down and suck us up at one point

Thanks David, Chris, Dave and Rob! I would have loved to put the camera on a tripod to get an animation, but we had 9 people visiting for a family dinner, so I only had time to shoot these few images.

Hope we get a few more storms like this over the summer!

Cheers,
Stephen
