Actually Gingin Gravity centre runs rockets association. I was talking to the manager or owner (not sure) at UWA and had a bunch of small scale stuff. He has only jut started the project but has big ambitions.

I restarted into Amateur Rocketry over here about a year before I got back into Astronomy. Was building motors but the explosions in my back yard upset the neighbours. Had a couple of CATO's on the test rig. Kind of nerve shattering when bits fall out of the sky and large clouds of white smoke drift around. Still got umpteen kilos of Potassium Nitrate downstairs in the garage. It's being used as fertiliser now instead, should last a while.

Then I bought my first scope ....... much quieter. Neighbours are much happier...

With all that "fertilizer" you are probably now on the potential terrorist list

Why are'nt you? Go for it, absolutely nothing is stopping you, government wont stop you as long as you adhere to basic aviation rules, speak to CASA, you are after all going to have to pass through commercial air space to get to suborbital flight. You will need thousands of hectares of land, a large hangar, millions of dollars and lots of time, technical support, materials and fuel but if you can find these things then I am more than happy to watch your progress. Heck, you find these things and I will provide you with free ICT support for the project, cant ask for more than that. In fact give Richard Branson a ring, I remeber he was doing something like this too, I'm sure he would lend you some of his engineers.

cheers, Dennis.

Actually millions of dollars weren't involved.

Also I would, if I was a multi billionaire, I'd have my own launch facility etc better and cheaper than any Govt run organisation.

In fact I'd probably have been on Mar's by now.

At my age by the time I'd made enough money to do it, I'd be too old to travel into space and enjoy it (a sexy alien) and I'd need to drink my beer through a straw. There are a couple of very rich people actively engaged and a few private enterprises in the space industry but in my view they are limited in their vision.
