My son and I went for a walk along a paddock fence, lots of jacky winters and yellow rumps to try and photograph.we walked further down as the sun set.
I could see a small hawk far away,my son had the 400L and 50D,so I got hime to take a image to see if we could ID it,it was a Nankeen Kestral setting way up the top of huge blue gum,so we walked over, and the bird stayed put,Nick patiently stalked in close to the base of the tree, and then had to figure out the best position to get in as many branches right in top of tree.
Anyhow he managed to bag a few good images, here is one,I did some basic PP on this one-but will spend more time with him doing some masks,to get the best out of the RAW image.Still along way from the bird at 76.6m
he usev AV mode F8 iso 500 speed was 640.Nice to get a good image of a raptor in the wild.
Lovely shot Chris. I like the way the Kestrel is looking down at the camera. Pity it wasn't a little earlier to avoid the shadow over the back of the bird. Hard to organise these things sometimes
