Some "wildlife" at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Hello,

We recently visited the CWS at the Gold Coast and here are some from the days outing. The Kingfisher, Pale Headed Rosella and Wood Swallow were taken inside a walk in aviary where the birds could fly around and hide in the shadows.

I had to use a flash, as the aviary was quite dark. The backgrounds have been extensively processed to remove bars, mesh and other man made paraphernalia.

The Wedge Tail Eagle, Owl and Major Mitchell Cockatoo were part of the “fly around” bird show where the creatures were flying around in the open air. The owl and eagle are static shots with the birds perched on a trainer’s heavily gloved arm. My seating position was unfortunately into the light so I had to open up to avoid the eagle becoming a silhouette.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for the comments Leon, Gary, Marc, Dino, Rick, Baz, Liz and Ken, it seems that the “eyes" have it, in terms of the transfixing stare of the owl!

Cheers

Dennis
