Facebook Sharing of Astro Pics.

There is now a share button for facebook on all of the threads, so I was wondering if this applies to astro images as well shared on facebook. Just noticing that John's latest astro pic is shared there as part of the complete thread as opposed to the astro image on its own .

1) Do we need to get permission from the owner of the image to post on fb for say, if we want to use the picture only and not the rest of the thread.

2) Or.. is it only okay to share on fb if we use the complete thread using the share button at the bottom of it.

3) Or do we still need permission from the image owner for both??

I have not shared any astro pics from this forum on facebook by the way as I don't know what my rights are.

Hi Suzy.

You can absolutely use the Share button at the bottom of each thread, and this applies for astro images as well.

It is not necessary to get any additional permission to use the 'Share' button. By posting it on IceInSpace, the content can be used and the link comes back to the OP's thread.

If you wanted to copy the image alone and post it, I guess it would be up to each photographer - I imagine most would be happy for you to share their images if you are crediting them for it.
