Thumbs up Planet Conjunction Rising at Terrigal, with Water Rush

Hi guys

More of the backlog from the May Conjunctions.

These were taken at Terrigal, next to the Skillion, on the morning of the 15th of May.

It was a beautiful morning - starting with a (very short) timelapse, and finishing with some stunning crepuscular rays - all while the planets beamed in the background sky.

My favourite shot of the series (and one that H mentioned previously) is the first "Water Rush" photo. I was perched on a rock avoiding the waves, when a rather large wave crashed through. I captured this shot just as I was getting drenched up to my knees. I love the sense of movement it portrays.

It was shown at the DM awards but didn't receive an award.

The star trails shot is a combination of the shots in timelapse, but I left 1 or 2 out near the end to create the "candle" like appearance. I call it "Conjunction Candles Rising".

More details and higher-res images can be seen on my blog:

or if you missed the link, here's the timelapse (don't blink or you'll miss it):

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Those are really beautiful Mike! I especially like the third shot with the planets blazing in the sky. They were so bright back then.
Thanks for the great views.

Beautiful images Mike.

It was worth the travel and early morning setup. What was that a 3am to 4am start?

Greg.

They all appeal to me in a separate way Mike.
I think each one has a grab factor, slightly different.
To my very untrained eye I find it hard to pick 3
as better than any, but that's me.
The crepuscular rays in 1 and 4 I absolutely love.
A lovely spot for sure.

Steve

The water rushing one is quite a good composition. Colours are nicer too.

Stunning photos, Mike. Its a tough choice choosing a favorite. They each have some feature that makes that photo stand out. But #3 does provide a sense of depth and motion.

Thanks for sharing these...

Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated.

Greg - yes, I think I got there around 4am. It was a chilly start but a beautiful day in the end.

RB - me too. Damn that pesky sun for rising

I love the rays in #4, they came out the most prominent, but I agree - there's something in all of them that appeals to me.
I love how star trail shots bring out the colour in the stars.

Thanks again for your comments.
