A balance between Earth and space

This balancing rock near Canberra is hard to get to now, with all the regrowth form the 2004 bushfires. Many places that are photogenic are darned near impossible to get to!

However, being very close to the road, it's not too bad to fight your way through the scrub and try to find a place to put the tripod down.

It's so peaceful being alone in the dark out bush. I feel safer out there than in the suburbs and very much at home. While the camera does it's job, it's a time of reflection and uninterrupted thought away from the distractions of civilisation.

Looking up, one's world and it's problems shrink away to nothing as your mind reaches outwards to infinity and all it's possibilities.

I'd prefer to see your watermark down the bottom of the frames so it's less obtrusive.

Yeah, I was wondering how many people were going to say that...I might have to do that. It looks terrible so big and dead centre of the photo. It looks much better nice and small and up the top..... FIXED.

Just wondering what equipment you used here Baz? you mention a tripod,but with the exp length I'd have imagined a tracking mount?How do you go humping all that into remote locations,and setting up and aligning?

I like these images Baz, I'm not sure what it is but there is something in it that seems to convey a sense of awe.

I was wondering if the boulders are lit up by any means?

Thanks Chris and Ric. as I had to push through scrub, I just used the 16-35L on a Canon 5DMKII on a tripod. I used a torch and waved it around for a second to illuminate the rock.
