20mW green laser pointer

Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a 20mW green laser pointer for my astro public demos. Anybody have one to sell, or recommend one?

TIA
Rob

G'day Rob and welcome to IIS.

You're welcome to put a "wanted" ad in our IceTrade section too.
I'll leave this thread so anyone can recommend some dealers for you.

Easiest and cheapest way is to just buy the diode which is legal to import than just wire up a switch and a battery pack into a piece of PVC from Bunnings etc. The diodes are cheap as chips and you can make the tube any size you want so you can mount it into a finder scope bracked as well.

Hi Rob,

Make sure you check local government reg's. WA has a limit of 5mW. The rest of the states may have different or similar levels.

Rob, try Matthew at Telescopes and Astronomy, I bought mine off him. Pretty reasonable price too.

Hi Roy.. I have 3 green laser pointers in several powers. I purchase mine from Scales Plus in Western Australia. The guy is very helpfull and I placed my orders over the phone. He has a wide range of type and supplies Laboratory Use, Observatories and Astronomers.

Here is the link to the Web Page
http://www.scalesplus.net/contents/en-us/d17.html

Give him a call as he has other options other than what is listed on his Web Page.. Here is his phone number 0411.637.447 as listed on his Web Page.

Hope this is a help to you. I had all sorts of trouble getting what I needed and this guy was great.. Not sure what state you are in, but often the membership to an Astronomy Club is all that is needed to be legal. You will need to look into your own State Laws as they are all different...

Regards
Mardy
