M16 "spire" and NGC7009 redo

M16 spire, in noisy artifacty NB, and a redo of PN NGC7009 with more data and a bit more subtle than the 1st effort.

I suspect the perfect stars in the NGC7009 redo are just a bit too perfect (given the size of this thing is about 30 arcsecs)). They only appear in the red channel for some reason, no idea why, but they will do me, better than the real thing if they arnt stars.

I have to confess when I first opened the spire I wasn't as bowled over as I expected Fred. After messing with hours of M16 data of my own taken earlier this year I've come back with my tail between my legs and would have to say *ahem* well, yes, that's pretty damned amazing really.....
Easy to take such firepower and processing for granted until you realise just how far in that image really is.

Both look to be very hard targets. You certainly like to go the super hi res stuff. Nice smooth data on both Fred. Not sure about the colour on each but the detail is fabulous. edit meaning that narrow band has some odd colours at times, I am not sure about this colour set being my taste, but it is not my image.

Detail was the main aim, but M16 spire really was noisy (specially blue, the subs were really shocking). Its a lot dimmer that the towers. A few beers during processing didnt help the colour much either, and in the end the more I fiddled the worse it got. Once you zoom in that much, processing methods change quite a bit, PS sharpening gets very weird. Star tools takes off where PS simply stops working at all, very handy, but needs extreme settings and ofcourse artifacts quickly become overwhelming.
Huge decon in CCD stack was the key, but needed lots and lots of 3nm Ha data.
