Bateau Bay Beach and Planetary Conjunction in May 2011

Hi guys

Better late than never, finally getting around to publishing more of my shots from the May month of conjunctions.

These set are from Bateau Bay Beach - it was a crisp and clear morning. Too clear. Not a cloud in the sky brought with it some pretty plain colours (all different shades of blue ) and the foreground scenes just weren't as interesting as I'd hoped they'd be.

I also found my headlamp had flat batteries so stumbled around in the dark stepping in puddles trying to find an interesting foreground scene before it got too light.

In the end I had to settle with some reflections and ripples in the sand, but overall I'm not overly happy with these. They captured the scene I was presented with that morning, but I was hoping for more.

The last image doesn't feature the conjunction, but some of the ripples. I wished I'd had a wider lens.

Mike that first shot is sublime. The sand ripples in the still water makes it look like an alien landscape and to me accentuates the extra-terrestial nature of the conjunction shown.

Thanks for showing these,

Tom

Yikes!

How could you not be happy with those: they're delightful!

Thanks guys - I do like them, but I guess I've been looking at them for too long, and I'm also critical of my own work at times. Always hoping for better.

Thanks for the comments.
