2011–12 GARDENS IN FOCUS PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

After the success of last year’s competition, we are now extending the competition to include photographs taken in any botanic garden around the world.
The competition opens 10 August and closes 10 December 2011. This gives photographers time to capture the changing seasons. First prize of $8000 will go to the photographer whose single image is judged the most striking and which captures the essence of a botanic garden. Second prize is $1500 in cash and third is $500 in cash.
All winning entries will be exhibited at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. The overall winning photograph will be displayed as part of the International Garden Photographer of the Year Exhibition at the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew. Each month the best photograph will be displayed online. Winners will be announced in May 2012.
