Clear Skies

Must have been pretty clear skies last night. I was able to view Saturn with my 5mm through a 2x Barlow with an approx mag of 480x. Best I have ever seen it. Very narrow FOV, and hard to follow with my Dob, but it looked really good.

What details did you see? My best ever view of Saturn was thru a Dob.

I could see the cassini division really well, and I could see some detail on the planet itself. I have seen this before, but never at 480x. You know those really good clear pictures of Saturn you see in magazines etc. It looked just like that. Better than I thought possible through my Dob.

Tried to hold my digicam up to the eyepiece but just couldn't get anything decent out of it. I am working on a round-about way of using my digicam as a video camera and am going to mount it to the eyepiece. I have downloaded DP's guide to processing and when I work out a way of attaching my camera will try some shots. Watch this space!
