15x80 Steiners

I am selling a 15x80 Steiner binocular recently acquired for selling purposes (accepted in lieu of cash from a friend) but not needed for my personal use. I have no incline for the 15x or 16x format as I prefer to use lower power > 12x always unsupported. If I have to mount a pair of binoculars, I prefer the use of the scope hence the reason for the sale.

My research suggests that these units go for $1199 US (+ freight, + import duty) so realistically if a person wished to purchase a new one of these from the USA, he/she wouldn’t get any change from about $1400 AUD.

The binocular I’m offering is in near perfect condition. This means there are no scratches or marks whatsoever on any of the objectives or ocular lenses and the green rubber armour cladding the binocular is clean. It comes in a white polystyrene box (I assume it to be the original packaging) and ocular covers. No objective covers came with it. The only scratches are on the bottom of the tripod adapter where it screws on the plate.

I can say that having previously owned 15x70 GO Signatures as well as the Minox 15x58’s, in comparison the Steiners do provide a brighter and superior view of the night sky due to the larger objectives. The stars are sharp and the nebulosity more defined. CA is visible during daytime and off axis on the moon but not anymore than in the previous binoculars mentioned.

For a quick sale I’m asking $700 + freight. I believe that this is a very good price for someone who is looking for a 15x binocular with these particular characteristics ie: excellent optics, low weight, greater exit pupil, water proofing, N2 purged. Inspections welcome. No pay-pal, only direct bank deposit or cash.

PM me here or email me w.soto9@gmail.com if interested.

Thank you for looking.
