Our aussie Jupiters are looking great, but......

I am so proud of our jupiters we are producing and even over on cloudy nights in the states, ours stand up with flying colours.

I even thought we were starting to challenge Damian peach. I had jumped on his website a few times over the last 8 months and until you have had to process jupiter by concentrating on white ovals or festoons, you don't train your brain to pick up details on jupiter. Your eyes will pick up the great red spot, the major bands etc.

Anyway, i thought i would have a look at Damians work from last year in barbados given the current months worth of great stuff we have been putting out. We are well on the way, but this guys is at the head of the class!!

I would cross rob's or dennis's latest smoothness and crispness with birds image scale and techniques.

What a loveley standard to chase!!!

Yes I agree The photos of Jupiter and Saturn and Mars have been great. DaveP you have come a long way since last year.

I really love the photos you are all taking.
But the real challange lies now with the outer most planets.
Neptune & Uranus.

Also what about cloud markings on Callisto

You are very lucky as in the 70's and 80's it was hard enough to get Jupiter etc.

So with today's gear the bar is set very high.
Keep the Big 2 planets coming, but set yourself a real challange and be some of the first in Aus to get some Neptune clouds Who's upto that then

Good luck

That's a very nice Jupiter.. sort of keeps you in check when you start thinking you're making good progress

I don't have hte focal length to get detail on Neptune, but I'll definitely give it a try next time it comes around.

yes you would be in the same boat as me, 5x powermates were not in the eyepiece box last time around.

just chucked the 1.20mm eyepiece ie the toucam with a 5x powermate into starry night and we should be able to see a decent disc now
