Roll out the coffee
The cricket, of course. Obviously astronomy stuff frequently requires staying up late. New Year's Eve is another obvious stay up late excuse.

Tour de France, Shuttle Launches, old skool movies shown on SBS/ABC ( you get sucked in sometimes), Fireworks on New Years Eve in The Netherlands, waiting in line to get into a club, ISS crossing, a large file download to finish, Jupiter to rise above my roof line, infomercials to finish, next door neighbors to stop fighting, cops to arrive to stop said before, ummmm what else....oh...almost forgot....look through my scope!
jeeeze I'm tired now......

Apollo 8.
Christmas eve 1968.
Fell asleep in the wee hours on the couch after watching the first orbit of the moon.
Woke to my little sisters opening their Chrissy presents.
Awesome night.

Molly, what a night and fabulous memory to hold on to!
As to answering the question...
Last night I stayed up late and watched the movie, "The Blue Lagoon". Couldn't tear myself away to bed when Christopher Atkins spent the entire movie in nothing but a loin cloth thingy.
Johnny Wessmuller and Ron Eli eat your hearts out, no chimp required.
Some might call it perving.. I call it education. I learned that you can do just about anything with a well fitting loin cloth.
Yes siree, I agree with Norman whathisname... nothing good ever happens after midnight.
Well, you did ask me what I'd stay up late for?!

In the late seventies the ABC ran a Marx Brothers film festival all after midnight and on a Saturday night.

The anouncement of Australia bid to host the world cup. As soon as they put the wranger in the video...... it was all over. But stayed up and waited anyway.

Pretty much anything, I have a problem with going to bed for some reason. Almost as much of a problem as I have getting out of it.

Anything really.
I worked weird hours for so many years I can't adjust to 'normal' time.
Did you know there is an entire culture of people that get up before 10 AM!?
How they do that and get any observing done is quite beyond me,

Always up late...well early really, being nocturnal helps
Doing Astro when it's clear and no moon which is pretty rare these days.
On Computer mostly, reading astro, watching documentaries, reasearching, buying astro gear, learning stuff etc etc
Don't watch TV that's for sure!
