Has anyone seen Hubble 3D at IMax?

Wouldn't mind goig to see this next week at IMax, Melbourne. Any reviews from the punters?

Last time I went to IMax was when it opened and saw an Everest Doco (was nearly sick )

Regards,
Stephen

Saw it recently in Sydney. Great footage of shuttle launches. Not a huge amount of footage in space, but understandable given weight of cameras and amount of film the consume. A lot of the 3d stuff was computer generated.

I enjoyed it, but wouldn't go again. I remember seeing an old IMAX movie 25 years ago called Space - I think that was more impressive.

Hi Stephen,

We had the opportunity to see it in Melbourne when we visited the Tutankhamen
Exhibition in April -
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ighlight=egypt

We both thoroughly enjoyed it and we came out quite excited about it.

One of the moments I enjoyed the most is when they are suiting up the
astronauts before the launch in Florida. Like when your mother laces your
shoes before you head off for the very first time to kindergarten and sensing
you are about to embark on something new and extraordinary, it is wonderful
to see the vivid, detailed expressions of the astronauts faces, like you were there
in that room right next to them, whilst they are dressed by the ground crew.
With grins that say "I am about to go for a ride into outer space" combined with that
immersing sense the big screen provides, don't be surprised if you find yourself
part of that moment in that room and smiling too.

The friend I saw it with and myself must be the only two people who didn't like this film. The pictures are fine, some are even great, but the audio drove me nuts. Between the frequent outright errors and hyperbole (everything is "The last chance", "The most dangerous", etc) I just wanted to tell the narrator to shut up!

I saw it a few month ago at IMAX in Sydney. (First time I'd been to IMAX). I tagged along with my son's year 4 excursion, and saw it on the heels of a visit to the Sydney observatory (day time). I thought it was great the Hubble 3D was well done, especially the space shuttle footage. The deep space stuff I wasn't too sure about how much of it was real and how much of it was computer generated. Talk about patience and finesse the astronauts had to go through to upgrade it. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Thanks for the opinions. Just checked the session times today and it looks like they're not showing it anymore. Might have to settle for the Dinosaurs Alive 3D

Regards,
Stephen
