Any Star Trek fans out there?

I've been going through withdrawl since Enterprise was axed. How could they do such a thing? OK it wasn't that good but Star Trek is like a soapy. It's like axing Days of Our Lives.

Anyway some enterprising (pun) amateurs have started their own show called "Star Trek New Voyages". It's based on the original series with Kirk and Spock but with younger actors.

Two episodes are ready for download in WMV format. More are in the making. They are not allowed to make money out of the show so the episodes are free and legal to download from the net.

Pretty good for a small production team I reckon. Kirk is played by an Elvis impersonator and it shows. A bit corny and goofy but worth watching. The special effects are really good, better than the 1960's show.

Seen almost every episode there is to see, started when i was about 7 in the early 80's watching the original Series on a B&W TV (probably being re-aired). I recall there was a UFO show that followed it. I was said to see that Enterprise was cacneled i thought it had pottential. I wonder whats next to feed my Trekkie thirst.

I think i still have not seen some of the original series episodes, but all the rest i have seen. Will have to hope that Stargate can keep me going for a while longer.

Hmm i miss my old shows. Mcgyver, Quantum Leap, Star Trek, etc etc..

I'm a trekky since the original series started, I remember having a battle with my parents, they wanted to watch Laugh In and I wanted to watch Star Trek.
Watched all the other series too. My favourite was the "Next Generation" series.
Enterprise was great, they did not not give it enough time.
The Production companies couldn't spend anymore money on sci-fi.
They had to spend it on " quality programs" like survivor, American Idol, Big Brother and the other mind numbing tripe, that the Australian channels have taken on Oh well my spleen has been vented Thanks, John

Been a huge sci fi tragic since birth - with the trek original series being the catalyst. My dad used to take me to the valhalla cinemas (people getting dressed up etc) since I was about 5 years old in the 70's. Does that count as child abuse?

For anyone who needs a fix and hasn't seen them, I can not highly enough recommend the babylon 5 series (all five seasons out of dvd now I think). Very different to Trek, but powerfully done - it's a five year story arc, written from the beginning (not piece meal episodes).

Gee I need to get into some more sci fi. Started on the new making of battle star galactica, started really well but is starting to annoy a little now.

Guys, the solution is simple. Be like me and what Star Trek till your eyeballs pop!

Mon - Thurs nights and 4 episodes (1 of each series) on Sunday nights all on TV1 on Pay TV.

Mon to Thurs Star trek is followed by Babylon 5 and Sliders! And sometimes Outer Limits.

I get my fix 6 nights a week!

Yes I used to watch it on TV1 when I had Austar. I think that's the only thing I miss about not having pay TV anymore.

Babylon 5 was very good. The new Battlestar Galactica as mentioned started out great but even season 2 drags it's feet at times. I really don't like Starbuck.

Some of the mirror sites for Star Trek New Voyages are slow, if you find a slow one try another. It didn't take me long to download an episode on 512k.

Yes have to agree Babylon was great, did not get to see the whole thing. Will rectify that soon.

Also like the current Battlestar Galactica, though i have not seen the original series.

Andromeda also by Gene Rodenberry is quiet good again not sure if there will be more seasons, judging by the reality show popularity thing not.

Also used to like Seaquest a diffrent kind of sci-fi.

Firefly was very promosing sci-fi with the western and sci-fi mix but alas another lost promising show.

Smallville is also very good.

Dont forget Gene Rodenberrys other series "Andromeda" a great mix of Sci-Fi & Action Adventure.
I am up to season 4, still more to watch.
The Box sets are a bit pricy though at $200 a set, compared to Star Trek @ $70 to $80 a box set.

Its sad that there is now no more series I was starting to get into Enterprise { thanks to Sub commander T'pol }but next gen was my favourite . Although it could be cringy at times Star Trek always had the air of positivity about it that i liked ....ill eventually build up that DVD collection

I saw a few episodes of Andromeda on TV7 - an Indonesian satellite channel from Telkom1.

I think the best captain was Picard. He had authority which a lot of the others lacked although Sisco from DS9 was good too.

I have all of Enterprise on disc. Just going through it and catching up on episodes I missed due to channel 9's inability to keep the show in the same time slot. I don't think they ever aired the ending either did they?

I have a room at home that has wall to wall shelves, chockers with tapes and DVD's every episode of ST, STNG, DS9, Voyager, Babylon 5 and many others with incomplete series, like Stargate and Enterprise.
Actually, my wife buys them all.
We even have the 3D chess set.
No uniforms......Yet.

FWIW, addendum. Total D/L of 4 episodes was just over 208meg/65 mins on 512.
Watched it last night. Not bad at all. Scenery/sets are pretty much the same as original series, special effects are better, acting is so-so but, overall it's great to have it back. & It's free...... L.

Downloaded the first episode last night and loved it so much downloaded the second one tonight. I laughed. I though it was great. Just the right amount of corn. I'm looking forward to watching the second episode

I guess you could say I am a fan. I have ALL the DVD sets of Original (haven't watched yet), NextGen (seen all), Voyager (almost finished season 6, one to go), DS9 (haven't started, but not as good as the others though), SG (haven't started yet). Still have to pick up Enterprise.

If you find yourself in Vegas some time, try the Star Trek Experience, can't remember the url at the moment but just google it. I have a couple of Star Trek cushions in the lounge which I bought from there on-line when we got home. You should be able to get some good good observing done out of town too as it is in the middle of nowhere.

Hey David,
It must be Star Trek. I remember seeing the Jean Luc and the 1701D in it hahaha.
DS9 is great stuff. much better than the new reality TV rubbish.

What they really needed was a sausage shop on the promenade deck though.
