One owner / one driver 2008 VW Golf GT Sport. This 6-speed manual turbo diesel has a
very torquey, yet economical, engine, and is a sheer delight to drive. Not much gear-changing is necessary due to the engine's flexibility, and almost all of the 96,000 km have been on hassle-free country roads.
This vehicle is the astronomer's model, since it has an electric tilt/slide sunroof (or should that be
star roof?) for great night time viewing. Then, to combat the potential cold, it has very comfortable heated leather seats. To get you to your favourite dark sky site, there are the excellent bi-xenon headlights, and of course, the very practical factory-fitted RNS-510 SatNav, which has updated maps installed.
The car returns 5 - 6 litre/100 km, with some trips just below 5. I generally get just over 800 km between fills, and have gone between 900 and 1,000 km a few times.
If purchased very soon, there is the option of a genuine VW extended warranty, which is virtually identical to the original warranty in coverage, yet extends to 160,000 km or 6 years (whichever occurs first).
The car has new tyres and rego is good until June 2012.
