Rumblings of breakdown

I'm may be alone here but i can't help feeling that life as we know it in "the west" is breaking down. The USA with massive debt, Europe breaking down, China in bubble land, even us in Australia with our bubble property and bubble resources boom.
Wouldn't it be great if we were part of a civilisation that knew how small and irrelevent we were on the cosmological scale and were making a focused effort to try and colonise one of the other 100 000 000 000 000 000 other planets out there? Our greatest achievement as a species was to land on the moon some 40 years ago. Since then western civilisation and government has been taken over by small minds who's only reason to be there is to make themselves powerful and rich and appear important. How sad and pathetic for the only species we know of that is starting to understand how large, unknown, beautiful and dangerous the universe really is.
Channel 7's next hit should not be "dancing with the stars episode 20" but "dancing with extinction episode 1".

I think the coming decade has the potential to be particularly grim due to economic stress - evil people may find fertile ground for their ideas among the masses desperate for change.

I think the responsibility for the current situation lies with a handful of rich and powerful bankers who infiltrated politics to bend laws to suit themselves. We unwittingly participated in the debt binge but they knew exactly what they were doing.

I'm hopeful for our species though since most people are good and decent - perhaps if we put more emphasis on teaching history the people will be wise enough to choose better leaders.(I know, I know, wishful thinking )

In the meantime enjoy the kids, enjoy the skies, and get a passport to another country should it be needed.

Oddly enough USA is paying down personal debt at the same high rate that we are - banks are no longer getting their own way.

Evil people already have their ideas firmly inculcated into society, most people just don't realise it. Any new paradigms will just add to the panolpy of mired beliefs.

Those powerful bankers, financiers and business people have had their claws in politics for more than 100 years. It's just that now, the stakes are much higher because the profit and power to gain is much greater than it has been previously. However, they're no different in nature than the any of them that have had their claws into everything since time's past.

Doesn't matter where you go on the planet, you'll be under their influence and presence. Best to grab an off world passport, should they ever issue any.

Our species will not make any progress unless we, as individuals, learn to be more responsible for ourselves and our society, and take an active role in bringing about change.
