IC2948 - escape from the coup doghouse

clear night last night

managed to get a few hours on this last night the image here is only a sub from the set. according to 7timer the seeing was at its worst - I believe it too. there were some clouds and you could see the dust in the air and the air was turbulent, even though I had sharp focus the seeing made the objects soft. Sample short shot of acrux - zoom in on the bugger and you can see that its all over the shop. the only real victory I got last night was I fixed my autoguiding issues. I setup and loaded the ATiK IC16 - running it not one problem operating on win7 64bit and no dropouts using its own cables and power though its refresh rates are noticeably slower than the DMK21 and i focused and was guiding uninterupted from sevenish until midnight. probably got about 4 hours data. i am sick to death of the next door neighbour turning on the outside light and leaving it on all night until they go to bed, am am very lucky that the dome shielded the direct light but the light spill in the air locally was horrendous - even the dog track was operating. anyway the samples attached are as shot in the camera - will process the rest and post that up later (lots of processing). I still think it looks more like a galah

EDIT - Added the 1st process of this 4h 15min iso 800 127ED cooled canon 40D processed DSS, Pixinsight and PS

You got her thigh and one wing

The seeing here in Newie is crap and the sky glow herendous - end of story. Doing Narrowband work with a mono chip is the only way to cut through and produce a decent image in my opinion - time the Doghouse gets an FLI .

Re the neighbours, I think you have no choice but to ask them what the chances are...? It's always a little nerve racking approaching neighbours over this issue but you have nothing to lose and everyting to gain, not like you have to explain much they can see a wopping great observatory in your backyard...it's pretty obvious, just ask Tania

Good luck mate.

Mike

Regardless of the difficulties I think that's a respectable chicken. With respect to your neigbours, the best thing is to talk to them but it can be intimidating. My neighbours are very cooperative.

Cheers

well shock horror they turned it off, the seeing is shocking - water forming in layers and the dog track is in full swing, but at least next doors lights arre off on the outside - but they dont even have any blinds on the back windows but they do on the front. Redoing some shots of eta tonight while waiting until the helix rises
