I like these two lines from the article:

The weakest link in security has been, and always will be, the user's judgment.

I began to settle in -- only to realize that throughout the entire night, my fly had been wide open. Just another demonstration: we're all walking around with vulnerabilities we have yet to discover

Not really surprising. What you don't know can't hurt you?
I also like the latest batch of commercial on telly. Save your important files to 'the cloud" online for extra security against loss. What a crock of s....

Yes, of course user is always to blame for eventual problems, and banks are always right.
I prefer face-to face contact with teller when banking... and even this is not 100% secure - what if teller is crook?

Save your important files on more than one place, if that is the "cloud" then that's fine, just dont put stuff up there that you cant afford to lose.

At least if you do the backups yourself you can be sure they are done properly. In the past couple of days Dropbox admitted that they had no security at all for a four hour period (their authentication would accept any password for any account) and Distribute.IT "lost" 4,800 web sites after a "hacker break-in." You'd think that a web hosting company would have a robust off-site backup regime, but obviously they didn't.

Cheers,
Rick.
