6mm TMB Optical Planetary II Eyepiece

SOLD

TMB Optical Planetary II eyepieces are optimised to show maximum contrast, detail and definition when viewing bright objects such as the Moon and planets, both on and off axis. They have very high light transmission and contrast, plus minimal lateral colour and light scatter. These features combine to provide exceptional high power observing with long focal length refractors, reflectors and catadioptric scopes under average or better seeing conditions. That you can get their truly premium performance at such a reasonable price is little short of amazing.

TMB Planetary II’s are the first long eye relief eyepieces with a comfortably wide field that have the sharpness, contrast and lack of lateral colour and light scatter for planetary observing of the best orthoscopic and Plössl designs. What they don’t have is the ortho and Plössl’s limited eye relief and restricted fields.

The five-element 6mm TMB Planetary II eyepiece provides a substantial 60° field of view with high contrast, a tack sharp view, and surprisingly long eye relief (16mm!), for relatively unvignetted spectacle-wearer use. The eyepiece is fully internally baffled and the internal spacers have flat anodising and micro-baffles to reduce reflections. For maximum contrast, every air to glass surface has multi broadband coatings.

These brilliant, lightweight eyepieces are very comfortable to use, with their twist-up eye shroud with soft rubber eyecup, long eye relief and large eye lens, but 6mm is a bit too much magnification for my usage, so I’ve kept the 9mm and am selling this one. In as new condition, complete with top and bottom caps and box for only $45, which includes careful packing and registered postage to anywhere in Australia. Inquiries by PM only, please.
