Covers been blown

I was rather hoping to keep this to just a few close friends. Been building it for years, all the while telling the wife I was in the observatory....

Hmm, I originally thought this was a scam as the coordinates on the ninemsn page are wrong, the video changes at 33 secs, and I couldnt see anything where this guy was looking when I downloaded Google Earth and went to Mars....

However, I have narrowed down where he is looking and can see the same thing, very strange!

I have captured some screen shots of the area on Mars and the Actual coordinates too shown on the bottom of the pic.

Take a look yourself and see what you think? I have placed a yellow bookmark pin on it for reference....

Spoookyyyyy!

Cheers

Chris

The resolution is so low it could be anything. I'd say it's a patch of ice.
Maybe there exist a Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter image of the same area for clarification?

I think the "Face" on Mars was more interesting.

Looks a bit too geometric for a patch of ice, wonder if its the work experience kid at Google inserting an easter egg for fun?

Close in, the area around the "structure" seems to be out of the ordinary for the surrounds, in as much as it almost looks pasted in....perhaps the explanation for this is footsteps from Russian Mars Explorers? Hmmm, Comrade, Da, интересный (interesting in Russian)

Cheers

Chris

Let's for the moment assume it's an artificial structure and not something natural. NASA wouldn't have anything to do with it in a materials sense because they wouldn't have the money to accomplish that sort of engineering exercise, but I know one lot that would....the US military, along with their industrial mates. But then you have to start asking questions which are very uncomfortable and most people don't want to.

I find it interesting that it is grouped together with Video's about an old man making animal noises, a man licking a shoe, Bigfoot spotted, a Shell playing cat, and an animated video of a dog aging in 40 seconds.
Allow the video to run on and see the others.

So I take it that the Channel 9 website lumps it in with the ridiculous stuff.
Shows how serious they take it

Hi All,

Very difficult to say what it is at that resolution with the image compression. Very pixelated.

At 71 deg N, my money is on a patch of ice (Occham's razor) but too hard to tell really.

Best,

Les D

Yaaaawwwwwn!
I'm sooooo bored of this, that or the other picture proving that there is/was/will be advanced life on Mars/Europa/Texas !
If it was advanced enough to construct a building to survive millenia, it was advanced enough to leave more than one.

I grew up surrounded by these nut jobs. They were all waiting for aliens to land and save the world. They were desperate for anything to relieve the mundanity of their lives.
They usually liked young boys and skunk-weed as well.

Can we PLEASE stop giving credence to these hoople-heads.
There is enough wierd and fascinating stuff out there without getting side-tracked by attention-seeking crackpots.

I don't think presenting this to others on IIS adds any credence, certainly not by reading the comical responses here. It's topical as it's in mainstream media, always good to be aware of any nonsense around our hobby. As I see it we have a responsibility to be aware of and to respond, at least know something about the question when we are asked as we will be. Many here went through the Face on Mars and Man Never Landing on The Moon questions, you simply can't ignore it by saying that was rubbish, without knowing what the other team were saying and having qualified responses. No harm done here.
PeterM.

I have a FB buddy who's hobby it is to scour the Mars Rover images from NASA.
So far he has found in the images, Martian Lizards, Martians in cowled cloaks and plenty of machinery artefacts.
He's very excited about this latest find.
