solar viewing.

Just seen a recording of the latest solar action, very impresive. I already have a solar filter for my scope but would like a dedicated solar telescope so I can watch the suns activeties my self. What is the diference between the "H" alpha filters and the Calcium filters?
Which is best for solar flars and surface detail?

The Ha solar scopes are the ones that show the surface detail and the proms.
The caK scopes have a filter (not a narrowband etalon) and show the surface in the Blue/UV of the spectrum. Better suited to imaging as the eye (especially in older people) is not very sensitive to that region - the views can be disappointing.
Ha is the way to go!

I design Merlin engined Spitfires for flight simulators - the Merlin 66 was the best one ever made by RR.
