Jupiter 12th Feb from tassie - 5fps comparisons

I have compared all modes i can think of at the beginning of this mornings run. 5fps is commonly termed the frame rate for the most data capture for frame ie least compression.

I have compared
  1. raw colour mode
  2. optimised raw mode
  3. 900 nc mode
  4. std 840k mode
Each mode has from left to right no wavelets, soft, medium, hard wavelets

End result is that i now firmly believe that the best mode for capturing the high qhailty image is colour raw mode. The other three, well it hard to tell from these results. Based on the maths, i would go with 900nc binaries loaded into your toucam. But for the foreseeable future, i am goint to be using colour raw mode. Big exception is Saturn, where the colour is just not right.

Thanks for putting in the effort to make up the chart.
The 2nd and 3rd rows are the most appealing to me.

Hey DP, not much in it but I'd favour the 2nd and then maybe first rows. Wondered why do you think from these results that colour raw is the way to go... noting my LCD screen might show things differently, I certainly can't see any more detail in it here

Thanks for the experiment too mate,

colour wise the raw seems to show too much red on my lcd here at work. the 2nd and 1st rows (in that order) do it for me.

nice comparo btw

rob,

i would agree that the detail in the colour raw mode in this example is not showing any more detail. the other jupiter i posted the "quick process" showed the best detail in raw mode.
