Adjustment Plate for PMX

For anyone waiting on Santa to drop a PMX down your chimney (preferably sooner than 25/12) you may be interested in the adjustment plate I'm getting made. It fits the shape of the PMX Base (8.85" square with a 3" x 1" protrusion on the polar side where the azimuth adjustment is. It has the 7.45" square 3/8 x 24TPI holes to receive the bolths from the Mount Base and has 4 x 1/2" 20TPI (might be 21 but I can't remember off hand) holes that on mine are 148mm centres to suite my OPegasus pier but could be any other pattern you want to suit what you have. This one is being made out of 16mm plate steel which is probably a bit of overkill.
I decided that I'd just paint it rather than powder-coat at this stage. So the cost will be pretty modest. I pick it up Thuirsday this week so all will be revealed then I guess. But if anyone else wants this guy to make one for them, I can give you his web address etc.

Actually, what I was looking for is the steel plate that you use on the top of your pier (I'm assuming your pier is made of steel).

Regardless, I've located a machine shop that will fabricate a steel plate for me.

Note that the 4 mounting holes must be within +/-0.001 in to ensure the Paramount MX mounting screws are properly aligned

Pity I can't test those tolerances until the mount arrives. +/- 0.001mm is a tough call for a small workshop. Better suspend judgment until my MX arrives and we can see how well they marry up.

Uh, yea, I'd swear I read on the Software Bisque support forum that the tolerance is 0.001-inch, a quite reasonable tolerance.

Sorry guys - a delay. Delivery now tomorrow (Friday). I'll post pics and prices then. I saw prices for powder-coating. Yeech! By the time you paid a courier both ways, and the minimum $50 per item for the powder-coater, you wouldn't see any change out of $120 or so. I opted for a few licks of fire-engine-red paint instead.
The guy making it is happy to take orders but wait a bit 'till I see how good his work is.

OK. I picked up the plate yesterday but last night's sky was so clear and seeing so steady that I put it aside for the time being.
I have now installed it to the Pegasus pier. It installed well enough even though the positioning of the 4 legs was slightly off.
But because of that I am not going to express a final view about this plate until I have my PMX in hand to check it on that. Frankly, I'm expecting problems because I don't think the positional accoracy is up to the level of precision required. I'll postr some pocs later today.
To boot, it cost me $275.00 for 4 hours labour and all the threaded rods, nuts and washers, paint and general preening around.
So I am also not really sure it represents value for money. What are SB charging for an adapter plate? Anyone know?
