You little ripper, it's that time of the year where, although living in Queensland, I pull out the old NSW jersey, sit in front of the telly and show my true colours. My wife and sons look at me as though I've lost my mind as I stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down for 80 minutes of football. And I love it!!! Yes, I'll admit it, I'm a born and bred New South Welshman who just happens to prefer the lifestyle that Queensland offers. The best of both worlds? You bet, except at State of Origin time!
Go the Blues!!!
Mario
PS And yes, for the last 5 years I've returned the old NSW jersey to the bottom drawer of the dressing table as a small tear rolled down my cheek...
The best footballers are banana benders. We don't have much of a chance. NSW has been infiltrared by those interlopers that run around the field like ballet dancers playing ping pong.
Queenslanders are better than us (NSW) for two reasons. One they're got a great team that play as though they've played together for years... oh that's right they have!! And secondly they have the passion for their state that is somehow missing in the New South Wales team.
Cheers,
Mario
PS My youngest son turned to me the other night at dinner and said "Dad, say 'I am a' ". I did this and as soon as I'd said "a" he yelled "Queenslander!!". At 10 he's already got the passion and he's already taking the micky out of New South Welshmen!
I'm the opposite, living in NSW and born under the story bridge
lifes been pretty kind down south regarding footy for the last
5 years (has it been that long).
Could I suggest some of these to you Mario
I've head the little critters play havoc with clothing stored over
the decades.
Us Kiwi's just sit back in front of the TV with a good beer and watch you Aussies runing around a field beating each other up. 13 a side tag wrestling with a ball thrown in for good measure.
Mario, I am similiar to you.
Born and bred in Sydney but choose to live in Victoria where the lifestyle suits me better.
I even started a Rugby League District and 3 clubs here in Victoria

That's an interesting comment considering Rugby is the biggest sport in New Zealand!
Where have you been? Get into it! Do your country proud
New Zealand is world famous for their Rugby, and now Rugby League is booming there too thanks to the 'Auckland Warriors'.

I miss the live matches of rugby league over here in the West.
The ultimate thrill is going to a good pub in opposition territory when surrounded by locals and you're the only interstater and your state wins!!!. But if they're about to lose, get out quick smart and preferrably via the back door
What I find amazingly strange (but I like it) is that State of Origin is on TV here in Victoria 'LIVE'.
(I'll be watching )
Yep, at 7:30pm 'prime time', Victorian TV, the state so devoted to GayFL that they don't even realise anything else exists, have it 'LIVE' each year.
I'm still bewildered about why they play State of Origin in Melbourne.
There will never be a Melbourne State of Origin team.
Must be for promoting the game of Rugby League down here.
I think its a good thing, but it just seems strange.
I think NSW has picked a pretty fair team to kick off this series
for a change, good combinations , form and a pretty fair spread of talent right across the park, that hasn't always been a first choice in recent years imo.
Qld I believe will find things much tougher up the middle and out wide this year, having a freak in Gaz likely to get a little time with the ball in his hands, running at QLDS outside backs, has to be positive as this game wears on. Smith and the halves with Slater bobbing up now and then are still as lethal around the edge of the rucks as they've ever been .
