Jupiter - GRS transit tomorrow morning
Hi guys.
The GRS transits Jupiter at a favourable time tomorrow morning.. Between 4am and 5am will be the best, and you can also see Europa and Io get occulted by Jupiter.
Might be another chance for a "Dennis" style Jupiter image, if the seeing is up to it! So imagers, get into it!
For visual observers, the GRS transits and moon occultations are always very nice to see, so set your alarms and hope for clear and steady skies!

Well I was up for it.. got some data of Saturn last night and Jupi again this morning.
Seeing seemed ok, not "Dennis" good, but not bad.
I used the 900nc firmware mod on my ToUcam, we'll see how the results go. Have to find time to process these images, while upgrading the forum and writing some high level designs at work. hmm.. doesn't compute.

Got my first images of Jupiter this morning. Also used my new 2.5x Powermate for the first time!
I've done some quick processing and they look OK (not up to bird, iceman, davepretorius, Robert_T, Dennis, asimov and the rest of the cast! standard - but OK). Got the GRS transit and Io coming out of eclipse.

Tomorrow (Saturday) morning will give us another GRS transit. The best time to view/image will be between 4:30am and 6:30am AEDST.

Hey Mike, Jetstream looked to have a real dead-spot over Sydney so hopefully you've got something special there.
What does the 900nc mod do?
I had 3 PC's on my desk at work yesterday...one was the lappy off to one side chugging away through all the avis from the morn. Only way you get through 'em

The seeing was pretty good - not sure if it's my best Jupiter but the preliminary results look ok. It's not dennis quality though.

It upgrades the firmware of the 840k to the 900nc. Basically gives you a new compression codec and some extra features in the driver settings window.
See this thread Dave wrote:

It seems to be ok - I don't know if it's any better yet, but it's not worse, so I'll probably leave it on.

Just need to find the time to process!
Don't worry, you're not missing much! I did get the GRS transiting the Central Meridian as far as I could judge, so it will be interesting to calculate the longitude of the GRS. It is certainly my best Jupiter yet!
