Brisbane – the morning after the planetary conjunction

Hello,

Here is an HDR image of Brisbane from the Mt Coot-tha lookout after the planets had slipped behind the clouds and into the morning light. The HDR was assembled in Photomatix from four separate exposures.

This was pretty much as we perceived the scene in terms of the dynamic range visible to the naked eye, although the HDR processing has boosted the colours and micro contrast.

Cheers

Dennis

Quite dramatic Dennis, it is a shame the Planets were not available, that would have made it even better.

Thanks for the comments on the photo. I have just worked out how to create a “contact sheet” in CS5 so thought that I would post the contact sheet of the five original exposures, to show the inventory for the final HDR image.

I took the five shots more as a technical challenge, to play with HDR rather than attempt an artistic final image. I enjoy the technical aspects of these applications and I am constantly amazed at what can be achieved with modern digital cameras and processing applications.

Cheers
