John, I originally thought I would be using the camera and Dob for short exposure deep sky imaging but Jupiter and especially the changing storm on Saturn have changed that for me. Even though the image quality with my setup is not the best I enjoy capturing and presenting the images in interesting (and I think useful) ways. I also enjoy making the best of the conditions and opportunities for imaging that are available to me. Again this doesn't provide the best image quality but I like to make the most of the time I get.
My solar shots have a blur that is apparent from top right to bottom left. Would I be correct in guessing that this is due to the fact that I am using an off-axis solar filter on my 12" Dobsonian, and that this is some kind of abberation that comes from using only one (outer) part of the mirror? The top left and bottom right of the solar limb look sharp but the opposite edges are blurred. This does not happen with my full aperture Moon images. I wonder whether a full aperture filter will remove the blur, even if the seeing conditions don't really support the full 12" aperture.
