Scope Security

Hi all

I have my first opportunity to use my scope in dark skies this Easter long weekend when I go camping.

We are staying in a caravan park (we will have our car on our site) and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for keeping my gear secure...

While I understand it probably depends on the circumstances, does anyone have any general tips?

Don't leave the scope out if you are going out.
While not in use, put a cover over it so no-one can see what it is.

Hi Al

Depending on the size of your scope I'd be packing it away in the caravan or your car.

I never leave mine unattended but I have more of a problem with dopey kangaroos bumping into it.

Buy a massive dob. The guy on the ground with the hernia is not going to steal your scope.

Having seen his dob, I agree. I might hide in it and ambush you when you go to use it though

The one time I went camping with my scope I just left the mount out. Wasn't too worried about someone stealing it, but we had nice neighbours.

I think if some one saw a setup left alone, they would just grab the scope and run, not realising that mount is where the money really is
