Earthshine from Space

I did this image a little while ago but thought it might be worth showing. On the 9th December I shot some Earthshine on the crescent Moon. Using the photo, the Lunar Terminator Visualisation Tool (LTVT) and the terrain altitude data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter I simulated a photo taken from space of the Moon on the same day. The relative brightnesses of the Sunlit and Earthlit sides were based upon the photo. I didn't need to use any images of the far side of the Moon because (luckily; ) it is overexposed. Note the crater shadows caused by Earthlight.

Earth is at bottom, Sun is at right.
