xrays from sticky tape

Hi,

this may be quite well known but posting for those who havent heard.
I came across this from an episode of "Bones".

Its not a new phenomenon, "Triboluminescence" causes x-rays to be emitted when peeling sticky tape or cello tape in a vacuum.

I believe the Russians demonstrated this in the 50's.

here is a video showing this phenomenon
http://www.nature.com/nature/videoarchive/x-rays/

and here's an explanation
http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HT...ews/news/1501/

There are several such natural phenomenon. sugar sparkles when broken or scraped in the dark, mercury emits sparks at low pressures, when you crunch certain types of candy.

anyone know any other natural or interesting effects?
