Eight months of blood, sweat, cuts, scrapes, broken tools and late nights went into this hand-carved sculpture. I know because I carved it. Mallet, chisels, files and sandpaper.
The blackbutt stump was dug up in Western Australia behind the plough and came home with me to be studied from all angles before deciding to carve an aquatic theme in it.
The wood is rock-hard and very seasoned, having died, been burnt off at ground level, then left under the sand for crikey knows how long, before being dragged to the surface behind my tractor.
The spiky roots all over it when smoothed, left behind a beautifully marbled pattern, rich with colour and form.
Make me an offer. (PM)
Baz.
