IRAF and Source Extractor

Does anyone have any experience in running IRAF and Source Extractor on a Mac?

I was inspired by the article in AS&T to try and produce a HR diagram from some FITS files I have - looks like SE can run on Mac but not Windows

I'm interested in any tips you might have for me

I've only run IRAF on linux. It is very powerful but tricky to use.
