Saw it on the news this morning. Looks OK but think it needs a wheel on it, though.

25th March here in Oz.
Love the new magnetically-attached cover.
Can't wait to hook the 5D-II to it, upload movies, and then edit them on the road in iMovie.

Hey, Now there's an idea! On the way to work on the train/bus/backseat.
Will it keep the resolution though ( maybe silly question?)?

Wow they change these things faster that I change my jocks.. Not really true but!
Tech is moving so fast all the time that you only have the latest and greatest for about 4 months. Then you are out of date. By the time the Ipone 4 is back in stock in Australia with regular supplies, the USA will allready be using the Think Pod 7. Oh well just think you can update your ipad and have all the fun shopping for new covers and accessories that you already had that won't fit the new model.. Yippie!

Looks pretty good. Still deciding whether I'll go and buy one straight away.
I might try and convince work to buy one for me, because the kids don't use the iPad v1 we have at home.

I'm leaving my iPad 1 in place until the 3 comes out and won't purchase a 2. It should, hopefully by then, have the Retina-resolution display, which I think is of better value to me than a camera.

Chris.. makes sense considering Apple's penchant for releasing new hardware every year.
I have the iPhone 3Gs, I'd love an iPhone4 but not realistic... when my 2year phone contract is over the iPhone 5 should be released.. so I guess I'll be skipping one model every time.
I'd love an iPhone6 too but....

Same boat, Simon. : )
My contract also runs out 2 years to the day the 3GS was released.

I have to agree with Martin, amazing technology.
I sometimes think that I am so far behind the times I wouldn't even know where to start.

With products becoming superseeded just about every 6 months, generation skipping is the way to go. I've been doing this with PC parts for years, for example video cards, where 6 months down the track a new series is out but not that much better than the last.
The same for Apple. I have an iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 really isn't worth upgrading for IMO. So I'll wait for the 5.
Same here with the iPad 2 (or 1.5 as I like to call it). Seriously feature wise it looks no better an upgrade from an iPad 1 as the 3GS was to the 3G. Lighter, slimmer, cameras.....meh.
And don't get me started on the magnetic screen protector! My partner has been raving about it like they just reinvented the wheel. Yeah it's cool, but is it really THE reason to get the Ipad 1.5? The way she carries on it sounds like it. And of course her birthday is just in time in April..... ...so it's a must buy.

Much of the same mindset as you, Julian. I skipped the 4, and, with contract expiration at the right time, will grab the 5.
I'd like to wait for the next iPad, too, but, I see this as a business tool that I could do with right now, so, will grab one.

Ditto.
The only real drawcard for me on the 4 is the screen, which the 5 will have anyway.
I would like an iPad but to be honest, would never use it.
If I was working in the city and catching the train for 2hours a day.. hell yeah, I'd be reading PDF's galore.

that was exactly my reasoning. I do have two hours of train commute a day so it will save me taking the macbook on the train. Potential scope control is a bonus as well. There are also some interesting GIS apps that i want to explore and it makes a very handy reference tool for PDF portability and use.

I personally love the concept, amazing build quality and the app store is what makes it what it is, but have you'll been deterred by it not supporting flash content on websites?
wonder if they'll ever have a workaround for that. can get a bit annoying when just browsing as these days, most sites are flash enabled.
