M20 and M8

Out in the wee hours from 0200 to 0500 today, (just another night shift for me!) Trying to get a nice picture of 2 of my favorite Nebs. Imagine my surprise to find out that the council has replaced the globe on one of my neighbour's street lamps with a globe that protrudes down below the sheild. Its like having a searchlight playing over the top of your yard!!! Still pointing in the right direction i seem to be able to avoid the worst aspects of this tragedy.

ED80, HEQ6, PHD guiding, Canon 1000D, 21 X 180 sec @ ISO 400, Flats, Darks and Bias applied, Stacked in DSS, Post with PS4

All the best

Paul

Hi Paul, there is nice detail there but it is very red. I hope you don't mind that I had a play. I used curves on the red channel to reduce the red in the image.

Shame about that light.

No thats fine.... I am coming to the conclusion that I need a monitor adjustment Just a bit too much blue so im not seeing how red my images are! Thanks for the advice... I am distressed over the light as i was going to put a roll off roof on my shed and the light plays directly on it now. I might take a trip to the council to see if they are approchable about this.

Ask Council for a "Light Shroud".

Great framing Paul and the nebs look pretty good, nice job. OzRob fixed the red ok too .

I hear your pain re the light, hard to know what can be done? Good luck with the council, perhaps relate your issues to lack of sleep due to the floodlight effect that exists now that they have changed the globe, or something other than your hobby at least, is my advice

Mike

The council WILL shield the light as long as you indicate that it is light trespass which is affecting your sleep ie the light shines directly into your bedroom.
