Me too, until the day I was messing about burning holes in paper in dad's new car. Leaving the paper on the seat wasn't a good idea I discovered.

Never saw that magnifying glass again.......
(I'm probably lucky to still be alive)

This thing was on telly a few weeks back. I SO want one (recent 'landscaping has unearthed many, many rocks). I couldn't believe the bloke was waving his hands around like that either. Frenchmen....tch!

All I got at that link was an advert asking me to subscribe before going any further. Couldn't see any way around it, other than subscribing.

Hi Albert;

This is do-able .. gold reflects infrared radiation strongly.
According to Wiki, a single gram can be beaten into a sheet of about 1 square meter.
Handling it might be a problem though, and you still need to glue it onto something parabolic, (or similar), in shape.

Cheers
