A chat channel would be good - or is there already one ?

Those that are interested use Skype! Those on skype usually (but not all) have their skype address in their signature.

I thought Skype was an internet/voip application. Dosn't that mean you need a headset, hardware, etc, for voice over internet. So, there isn't a simple chat channel ?

Most of the cash we had, went into the scopes - or am I as usual wrong ?

ciao

You can do "typing" chat in Skype. It is free. Add to that a microphone and you can chat over the interenet - for free. It isn't excellent quality, but overall it is well above average.

No extra hardware required for some real time typing chat.

I remember there being a channel setup on oz.org I think it was, but it doesnt appear to be around anymore.

There has been discussion of an IRC a channel a few times. If someone sticks a channel up on a popular IRC network I will join.

Based on the result - I think the thread was a waste of time I even tried that chat channel.

Did you try Skype?

go to http://www.skype.com and download the program and install it. You will then have to search for users and you can start with me if you want (see signature below).

Lance, If you get skype, just ask the first person you contact to transfer you all their IIS contacts (I have about 13). I usually configure skype to only accept calls from those in my contacts list. Skype's also good, in that you can have a voice or even video chat as well as text and transfer files at the same time. You can also use Skype to chat to other users throughout the world, free of charge.

I happen to be a Moderator on several channels on a IRC network. It's a pretty reliable network (unlike dalnet and the like). If your ethics don't mind being on the same IRC network that supports hacking satellite tv....I'm sure I could arrange a IIS channel. One thing tho....I'll be the founder of the channel...but I really don't want to moderate it. Any takers?
