NGC2239 up close in Ha

I finally felt like I made some progress last night with the Ha filter. Managed to get 2 hrs on NGC2239 before the clouds rolled in again. Guiding etc behaved pretty well and I'm much happier with the stars in this image compared to previous attempts.

12x10min subs using the QHY8pro and 10" newt.

Comments welcome!

Looks excellent Peter

The image size posted is a bit small though to really appreciate the fine details.

Thanks Carl and Mike. Not sure what to do about the image scale as this is already at the 200k limit?

Thanks Allan. It is starting to come together finally. I was looking back at what I was getting in the early DSI images a couple of years ago - it's funny how your standards get higher.

Thanks Goeff. I haven't quite got the dew under control but hope to pretty soon. I've found some small argon cylinders and will pick one up tomorrow. I've also ordered some dessicant strips from Theo. If that combination of measures doesn't solve the problem nothing will.

Thanks Troy - I really like this neb - shame I don't have a wider FOV.

Great going Peter! Nice tracking, and you haven't over stretched it - the stars have still got some softness and roundness to them. I'd love to know where you've sourced the argon and what it costs?

Been playing around with this tonight after seeing Rob's image of the same neb. Here's a repro with more curves applied to lighten thing up a bit.

looks like you are having a lot of fun with this one - its a ripper of a shot. I would have thought your field of view would have been a little larger though?

Thanks for the feedback Dave and Mark. That's the whole FOV Dave with the 10" newt/paracorr/QHY8. The paracorr adds 15% to the focal length, making it 1460mm. I get 56'x37' FOV and 1.1 arc sec/pixel (in colour).
