roof top obs

Hi,
I,m looking for ideas for a roof top observatory - actually more of a shelter. The only place I can permanently house a scope is on the rooftop entertaining area. The downsides are that I cant mount a permanent pier sunk in to the ground - it would be 3 stories hi!! The good part is that the steel frame of the house doesn't vibrate at high power unless I walk around close by, so remote imaging will be fine. I need some sort of structure about 1.8m x 1.8m square. I also have nice 360 degree views down to quite low angles to the horizon, though light pollution in Northcote sucks.....

Anyone seen any plans around for some small structure like this - maybe lift off roof or some such?

cheers
Gary

Gary,

Have a look at Techncial Innovations handbook called "At Home in a Dome" by John a& Meg Menke. You may get some worthwhile ideas from it.
