Lunar shots, 23/01/2006

Here's some lunar shots I took in-between Jupiter avi's from yesterday morning.

You can see that my framing isn't very good That's the trouble with dobs, no slow mo hand knobs or controls to center the feature/crater you want to image.

Plus, at the image scale I was using, it was very hard to fit them in the FOV sometimes - especially clavius.

Taken with the ToUcam, 5x powermate, 10fps, B&W mode, 0 gain, 1/25s exposure.

Simple registax and wavelets, followed by a little sharpening/levels adjust in photoshop.

Happy with the image scale, happy with the fine detail, not overly happy with the framing

Comments welcome.

do you mind if i play with 1 or 2 of them? I think i might be able to get a bit more out of them (or i could be fooling myself )

Nice Copernicus Mike. Those central peaks and terraced walls look great around day 23.

Some nice detail there. Love the shadowing in Clavius.

Never tire of the Moon. Must have another go at it.

lovely work mike, i have been using the moon to focus, the dob driver is good as it has that fine guiding, which allows you to centre the image pretty well. I keep wanting to image, but the seeing is terrible at the moment
