Carina+ED80/2005

Hi All,
As the weather here has been overcast I havent had a chance to try out my MEADE F-6.3 Focal reducer on the ED-80, this picture was taken last year in Jan. when I had just bought the CANON EOS300D, and used the ED80 (newly purchased also) with a MOGG focal reducer (see the Coma)to make the F-7.5 to about F-5, no dark frame removed and minimal processing, hope to do better this year using the MEADE F-6.3 reducer on the Ed80 which should give about F-4 and no Coma, I found a simple adaptor to let me do so at http://www.clearvueoptics.com/adapters.htm , the Item is a "DP2" and comes apart to allow the Reducer to be inserted between each half section this fits into the ED80 and the Canon "T" adaptor (a seperate item), I have one on loan locally and waiting for a clear night to test it.

Pix of Carina....1 x 10 Min. Exp. at ISO-800, ED80, guided with an LX-200+MX7C
regards.................Jim

Nice shot Jim

FWIW those who have the Meade LX200 with the microfocuser or have bought the microfocuser, or have bought a JMI NGF-CM focuser, the SC-Adapter that comes with the focuser will slot straight into the 2" focuser of the ED80 and do the same job

Hi All,
Many thanks for all the comments, and O.K. Paul on the LX200 Microfocusser being used for this purpose if not required in the LX200, I require it in the LX200 for the Guiding Camera+Reducer, and bought the ANTARES one to use with the ED80 which sits on top of the LX200, took my first images using the MEADE F-6.3 reducer last night and will post them with a Normal shot (no reducer) soon.

regards.........Jim
